Prayer for Purity and Healing: Understanding Leviticus 15:2
"Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean." - Leviticus 15:2

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with an open heart, seeking understanding and wisdom from Your Holy Word. We thank You for the Scriptures that guide and instruct us in all matters of life, including our spiritual health and cleanliness. Today, we reflect on Leviticus 15:2, where You commanded, ‘Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean.’ Lord, these words serve to remind us of the importance of purity in both our bodies and our spirits.
Father, as we meditate on this passage, we recognize that ‘uncleanliness’ can manifest in various ways in our lives—physical, emotional, and spiritual. As we pray, we ask that You help us identify any ‘issues’ that may be running in our lives, whether it be sin, sickness, or spiritual neglect. Just as You instructed the Israelites, we also confess and come to You for healing and restoration. Teach us, Lord, how to come before You with our struggles, without shame, knowing that You are always ready to forgive and to cleanse us.
We ask for purification, Lord. Just as You set forth the laws in Leviticus, which were meant to guide Your people towards holiness and separation from what defiles, we seek to be pure in our hearts and actions. Clean our hearts of any bitterness, anger, or resentment that might taint our relationship with You and with others. Help us, O God, to identify and cut off those things that might cause us to become spiritually unclean, so that we can serve You with a fully devoted heart.
Gracious Lord, cleanse us from within. We understand that true purity comes from a clean heart, a heart that pleases You. As we present our ‘running issues’—those things that trouble us and disrupt our peace—help us to lay them at Your feet. In Your Word, You declare that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) Today, we stand on that promise and declare that we are in need of Your cleansing power.
We specifically pray for physical healing for all who are experiencing ailments or ‘running issues’ in their bodies. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your healing touch. We pray for those battling diseases, those recovering from surgery, and those who deal with chronic pain. Father, may they experience Your comfort and presence in their distress; may they find strength and hope through their trials. Your Word tells us that by Your stripes we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). We claim that healing over our lives and the lives of those we love.
Moreover, Lord, cleanse our minds as well. In a world filled with distractions and temptations, it is easy to become unclean in our thoughts. We pray for a renewal of our minds (Romans 12:2) that leads us away from negativity and doubt and draws us closer to Your truth. Fill us with thoughts of hope, love, and courage so that we can walk boldly in our faith.
We also ask for strength as we navigate relationships that might lead to uncleanliness in our spirit. Help us to be wise in our associations, choosing friends and influencers who uplift and encourage us in our journey towards holiness.
Finally, thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and grace, which always beckon us back to You, even when we stray. Help us, as followers of Christ, to reflect Your light and love in this world, being vessels of purity that point others to Your grace. Teach us to be quick to forgive and slow to judge, showing compassion as You have shown us.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray.
Amen.
