A Prayer for Faithful Stewardship
"And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward." - Luke 16:2

Heavenly Father,
I come before You today in humble awe and reverence, knowing that You are the Creator of the universe and the Author of life. I praise You for Your goodness, mercy, and grace that has followed me all the days of my life. I acknowledge the depth of Your wisdom, provided through Your Word, and particularly today, I mediate on the scripture from Luke 16:2, "And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward."
O Lord, as I reflect on this scripture, I recognize the urgency and importance of stewardship in my life. I understand that every gift, talent, and resource granted to me is a sacred trust from You. Lord, I confess that there have been times when I have taken these gifts for granted, not investing them unto Your glory but squandering them like the unwise steward. I ask for Your forgiveness for moments of neglect, indifference, or misuse of the blessings You have given me.
Help me, Father, to hear the question You pose in this verse as a personal invitation to evaluate my life. "How is it that I hear this of thee?" This probing inquiry ignites in me a desire to be accountable for my actions and my choices. Teach me to examine my stewardship in all areas of my life including my time, my finances, my relationships, and my talents.
Lord, grant me wisdom and discernment as I seek to give an account of my stewardship. I do not want to simply present any account but a fruitful one that acknowledges Your hand upon my life. May I reflect on how I have managed my life's resources, striving to align my priorities with Your heart. Help me to see every moment as an opportunity to invest in eternal things - the advancement of Your Kingdom, the nurturing of my faith, and the encouragement of those around me.
As I journey through life, Lord, I have encountered challenges and distractions. I pray for strength and focus to resist the allure of status, comfort, and self-centered ambitions. Instead, cultivate in me a servant's heart, desiring to uplift others and multiply the resources entrusted to me. May I use my talents to serve, my finances to bless, and my time to build relationships that reflect the love of Christ.
Father, You have called me to be a steward, but I do not take this calling lightly. I want to excel in this essential role, so I seek Your guidance. Send forth Your Holy Spirit to teach me, remind me, and lead me in paths of righteousness. Open my eyes to see the opportunities that surround me, whether at home, at work, or in my community, and inspire me to act upon them with boldness and courage.
Lord, as I prepare to give an account of my stewardship, I desire to hear Your words of affirmation that echo in my heart, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." May my life be a testament to Your faithfulness and an example to others of how to live a life that glorifies You. I also pray for those around me, that they may be encouraged to embrace their roles as stewards in their own lives, discovering the joy of serving and investing in things that endure.
As I conclude this prayer, I ask for strength and perseverance in my journey of stewardship. May I continue to seek Your guidance and remain faithful to what You have entrusted to me. Let Your presence guide my actions and may my life reflect Your light in this dark world. In the mighty name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
