A Prayer for Discernment and Righteousness
"Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not." - Malachi 3:18
O Lord God Almighty,
In the stillness of this moment, we bow before You, our hearts yearning for Your presence and our souls longing to know You more intimately. We come inspired by the words of Your beloved prophet Malachi, who reminded us that, "Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not" (Malachi 3:18, KJV). Lord, these words echo in our hearts, calling us to a deeper understanding of the world we navigate each day, one filled with choices that lead us toward righteousness or lure us into wickedness.

Illuminate our steps with the brightness of Your truth, enabling us to walk firmly on the path of righteousness. When faced with decisions, may we evaluate our choices through the lens of Scripture. Let us seek counsel from Your Word so that every action we take reflects our commitment to serve You wholeheartedly.
We pray for each member of our community, asking that You bless them with clarity and insight. Give us courage to stand firmly in our convictions, even when faced with opposition or ridicule.
In our interactions with others, may we embody Your grace and truth. Help us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), understanding that every person we encounter is created in Your image. May our discernment manifest in our relationships, allowing us to lift one another up rather than tearing one another down. Enable us to build a community that encourages recognition of righteousness and challenges wickedness, always grounded in Your unconditional love.
And as we desire to serve You, Lord, may we always seek opportunities to share the Good News to those around us, inviting them into the light of Your salvation. May our witness be effective, guiding them toward an understanding of the importance of discerning their own lives in relation to Your standards.
In closing, we thank You for the promise found in Malachi 3:18. We hold fast to the hope that as we seek to return to You and discern the paths before us, You will lead us into greater depths of faithfulness and service. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
