Empowered for the Mission: A Prayer of Commissioning

"¶ And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;" - Mark 6:7

"¶ And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;" - Mark 6:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

We come before You today in humble adoration, acknowledging Your majesty and grace. Just as You called the Twelve in Mark 6:7, we gather in Your presence, yearning to hear Your voice and to understand the call upon our lives. Lord God, we recognize Your sovereign hand in sending forth Your disciples two by two. We praise You for the divine design in partnership; for it not only fosters accountability but also amplifies our witness.

We stand in awe of the power You bestowed upon them; the authority to cast out unclean spirits. As they went forth, they did so bearing the sacred mantle of Your command, empowered by the Holy Spirit, equipped to heal and to deliver those who were tormented and in need. Father, we ask that as we seek our own missions in life, You endow us with the same fiery passion and divine authority.

O Lord, ignite within us a fervor for the lost souls in our midst. Help us to recognize that just as You empowered the Twelve, You have equipped each one of us with unique gifts and abilities. Let us never underestimate this! May we rise up in confidence, knowing that we go forth not in our own strength, but in the authority of Jesus Christ. Help us to understand what it means to walk in Your authority as we engage with the spiritual realm. We ask for discernment and clarity, to distinguish between the voices that seek to lead us astray and the gentle whisper of Your Holy Spirit guiding us toward truth and righteousness.

As we venture into the fields of life, assign us our partners in ministry, Lord. Just as You sent the disciples out in pairs, lead us to those who will walk alongside us, those who share our vision for Your Kingdom and will encourage us in times of trial. May we bear each other’s burdens and empower one another to remain steadfast in faith.

God, equip us to be faithful messengers of Your love. Help us to communicate the Good News with clarity, conviction, and compassion, that those who hear may understand the depth of Your grace and the transformative power of the Gospel. Just as You commanded the disciples to preach repentance, let our voices echo the call to turn toward You, to seek redemption and reconciliation through Christ. May our words carry weight, and may they bring hope to the hopeless and healing to the brokenhearted.

Lord, as we navigate the complexities of the world, including the unclean spirits that may endeavor to ensnare us or those we seek to reach, we ask for Your powerful protection. Surround us with Your hedge of righteousness. We do not fight against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Hence, we seek the armor of God, equipped to stand firm against lies and deceptions that seek to pull us away from Your path. Teach us to respond not with fear, but with faith—faith in Your promises, faith in Your guidance, and faith in Your ability to deliver.

As we are sent out into a world that often seems dark and chaotic, help us shine Your light brilliantly. Let love be our battle cry, and let Your power manifest through our actions. We pray that many will come to know You through our witness, just as those in Galilee were touched by the ministry of the Twelve. Empower us always, Lord, to be Your hands and feet, spreading the light of Christ everywhere we go.

In Your Holy Name, we pray,

Amen.
