A Prayer for Wise Counsel and Guidance

"Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established." - Proverbs 15:22

"Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established." - Proverbs 15:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

As I come before You today, I am reminded of the profound wisdom found in Your Word, particularly in Proverbs 15:22: "Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established." Lord, I thank You for the gift of wisdom and understanding, for Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

In this moment of prayer, I want to express my deep gratitude for the counsel that You provide through Your Holy Spirit and Your Word. I recognize that no endeavor, plan, or purpose can be fulfilled without seeking Your guidance first. Lord, help me to always come to you with an open heart, seeking Your will over my own desires.

I acknowledge that at times my ambitions and dreams may overshadow my discernment. Lord, forgive me for the instances when I have relied solely on my own understanding, leaning on my own strength rather than seeking the multitude of wise counselors You place in my life.

As I reflect on this verse, I realize the importance of advice from those who are spiritually wise and seasoned with experience. Grant me the humility to listen, the wisdom to discern, and the grace to embrace the counsel of those around me. Surround me with mentors, friends, and family who can guide me with their knowledge and experiences, so that my plans may be solidified, and my purposes established in accordance with Your Divine plan.

Lord, as I embark on new paths and endeavors, I pray for clarity in thought and direction. May I not rush ahead without first consulting others who can provide valuable insights and perspectives. Help me understand that counsel is not merely advice but a reflection of the collective wisdom You have bestowed upon your people.

I also pray for those who are in leadership positions—whether in the workplace, in community service, or within the church. May they understand the weight of their decision-making and seek guidance earnestly. Surround them with advisors who capture Your mind and heart, who seek to establish plans that are not only fruitful but also aligned with Your Kingdom purposes.

Lord, I ask that You instill in me a spirit of discernment as I filter the counsel I receive. Help me to recognize voices that lead astray, rather than towards Your truth. Open my ears to Your whisper, so I may differentiate between wise counsel and mere advice driven by earthly motives. May I hold fast to Your wisdom in all discussions and deliberations.

As I gather wisdom, Lord, let me also be a counselor to others. Teach me to share the wisdom You have provided me, to speak life, hope, and direction into the lives of those seeking guidance. May I be a source of encouragement, illuminating paths for others with the light of Your Word. In doing so, may I cultivate a community that thrives on mutual respect, understanding, and godly counsel.

And as I move forward, Lord, may my purposes be established through unwavering faith and reliance on You. Help me to trust that every encounter with a wise counselor, every moment of prayerful consideration, is an opportunity to align my heart with Your will.

In every decision I need to make, let me remember the wisdom of Proverbs 15:22 and cherish the counsel I receive. May I embrace it wholeheartedly, knowing that with each trusted voice I consult, my dreams and purposes are made stronger and more effective according to Your divine will.

In Jesus' name, I pray.

Amen.
