A Prayer for Wisdom and Protection in Our Paths
"Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them." - Proverbs 22:5

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, my heart is filled with gratitude for Your boundless love and everlasting grace. I thank You for Your Word, which lights my way and guides me through the complexities of life. Today, I seek Your wisdom and protection as I reflect on the words of Proverbs 22:5: “Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.”
Lord, I acknowledge that life is full of challenges and temptations that can lead me astray. The thorns of worry, doubt, and fear can easily entangle my heart and mind. The snares of sin, pride, and selfishness lie in wait, hoping to ensnare me and draw me away from Your path of righteousness. I ask for Your divine wisdom to help me recognize these dangers before I stumble upon them. Please open my eyes to see the subtle traps the enemy lays, and grant me the discernment to choose wisely in every situation.
Father, I long to live a life that honors You and reflects Your love to those around me. Help me to be steadfast and courageous in the face of the froward, those who walk in ways contrary to Your teachings. Strengthen my spirit, that I may not be swayed by their words or actions, but instead stand firmly on the foundation of Your truth. I pray that Your Holy Spirit empowers me to maintain my integrity and to keep my heart aligned with Your divine purposes.
Oh Lord, as I navigate the tumultuous paths of life, remind me to keep my soul in the palm of Your hand. I understand that to keep my soul is to guard my thoughts, my emotions, and my actions. Teach me the value of self-control and remind me to think before I act, to weigh my decisions against the guidelines of Your Word. Help me to seek Your counsel in all things, to pause and pray when faced with choices that could lead me into thorns and snares.
Father, I pray for protection not only for myself but also for those I love. I lift up my family and friends to You, asking that You hedge them in with Your divine protection. May they see the thorns and snares, and may their hearts be drawn to You for guidance. Help us to support one another in our journeys, encouraging each other to stay true to the path You have set before us.
In moments of temptation, remind us of the consequences that can arise from straying from Your teachings. Let us not be lured by the apparent beauty of the thorns, nor the enticing promises of the snares. Instead, fill us with a deep longing for Your presence, a desire to dwell in Your house forever, understanding that true fulfillment comes only from a life aligned with Your will.
Heavenly Father, as I commit my paths to You, I encourage my soul to trust in You completely. You are my refuge and strength; I will not be shaken. Lead me away from the paths of the unrighteous and keep me grounded in Your truth. May Your Word be my compass, steering me far from danger and closer to the heart of Your holiness.
Thank You, Lord, for Your promise that those who keep their souls shall be far from thorns and snares. I place my trust in You, confident that as I seek You with all my heart, You will lead me along the safe and blessed way.
In Jesus’s mighty name, I pray.
Amen.
