Prayer for Steadfastness in Righteousness
"Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil." - Proverbs 4:27

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with humble hearts, recognizing Your sovereignty and our reliance on Your guidance in our lives. Lord, I thank You for the wisdom found in Your Word, and particularly I bring to You Proverbs 4:27, which reminds us, "Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil." This verse resonates deeply within my spirit, stirring within me a desire to walk in Your ways and to seek a path that leads to righteousness.
As I meditate on these words, I pray for discernment, Lord. Life presents so many choices, and it often feels overwhelming to know which path to take. I ask that You open my eyes to see the truth clearly, to recognize the distractions that can lead me off the narrow path You have set for me. Help me to remain focused on You, to keep my gaze fixed firmly ahead, just as a runner runs the race with purpose, and not veering to either side. Give me the strength to resist the temptations that arise and the courage to say no to anything that may lead me away from Your purpose.*
Lord, I confess that there are times when I have let my guard down. There have been moments when I’ve found myself curious about the world’s offerings, tempted to explore those paths that seem attractive but lead to destruction. Forgive me for my wavering faith and my willingness to entertain thoughts and actions that do not honor You. Cleanse my heart from any desires that lead me to evil. Imbue me with a spirit of steadfastness, so that I may remain resolute in my commitment to walk in Your Light, avoiding the shadows that threaten to ensnare me.
In Your Word, You have promised that when we acknowledge You in all our ways, You will direct our paths. Therefore, I pray that I can continually seek Your wisdom before making decisions. Teach me to consult Your Word daily, to pray earnestly, and to earnestly seek counsel from those who are wise and grounded in faith. Let my decisions be guided by Your principles, reining in my own desires and inclinations that may not align with Your will.
Father, I also uplift others who are struggling with the same issues of direction and temptation in their lives. I ask for Your grace to cover them, that they too may learn to turn not to the right hand nor to the left. Surround them with godly advisors who will point them back when they stray, and give them the resilience to stand firm when challenges arise. Help us all to remember that keeping our eyes on You gives us purpose and a sense of belonging—something the world cannot provide.
As I journey through life, I understand that the choices I make not only impact me but also those around me. May my decisions reflect Your Glory, and may others see You in my actions. I pray that my steadfast walk will encourage fellow believers to remain on their righteous paths, and that we may support one another in this endeavor. Let us be a community that upholds one another and holds each other accountable, keeping each other from the snares of evil.
Lord, I thank You for Your promises and for being my constant guide. I trust in the path You have set for me, and I will strive to remove my foot from evil, focusing solely on Your goodness. Empower me with Your Spirit, to be relentless in my pursuit of righteousness, unwavering in my commitment to right living, and joyful in the freedom that comes from following You.
In Jesus' Holy Name, I pray,
Amen.
