A Prayer for Diligence and Devotion
"I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids," - Psalms 132:4

Heavenly Father,
In the stillness of this moment, I come before You with a heart that seeks to reflect Your glory and character in all that I do. Just as it is written in Your Word, "I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids" (Psalm 132:4), I stand before You asking for the same fervor and dedication as I pursue Your ways.
Lord, I acknowledge that in my life, there are distractions and comforts that often lead me away from the passion and purpose You have set before me. Help me to be diligent, just as the psalmist declared. May I not find rest in the pursuits of the world, but rather enough resolve to toil and strive for the kingdom of heaven. I desire to keep my eyes wide open to the needs around me, to the call to prayer that persists in my spirit, and to the actions required of me to fulfill the mission You have placed upon my heart.
God, there are times when weariness seems to claim its hold over me, when the weariness of life’s burdens tempts me to lay down my responsibilities and seek comfort in rest. But, in those moments, I pray for the strength to push through, to rise above fatigue, and to engage fully in the tasks You have for me. I ask for your divine energy to refresh my spirit, to carry me onward when I feel like I cannot go any further. As Jesus labored fervently in prayer and ministry, instill in me the same relentless spirit, for You are my ultimate source of renewal and hope.
Fill my heart, Lord, with a passionate commitment to seek after You—Your presence, Your Word, and Your work in my life and in the lives of others. Instill within me a burden for the lost, the weary, the oppressed, and the broken-hearted. Let my heart mirror Yours, filled with compassion and a desire to serve relentlessly. I pray that, like those who have gone before me, I might set my sight on the goal of steadfast faithfulness, refusing to allow the lures of comfort to sedate my spirit.
I want to grow in diligence, Lord; to seek not my own convenience but the advancement of Your plate. Let this verse strike a chord within me—a reminder that sleep can be a distraction from the call of God on my life. As I remain vigilant in prayer, may I also learn to listen closely to Your voice, to discern Your guidance in every decision I make, and to have the courage to follow wherever You lead.
Father, I pray for my fellow believers as well. Give us all the grace to not overlook the needs of those around us. May we collectively answer the call to love, to give generously of our time and resources, and foremost, to pray without ceasing. Let us not take our rest from our duty to spread the good news and support each other in our walks of faith. May these words echo within us, spurring us on to action, promoting a community of righteous zeal for Your glory.
With a heart fully devoted to You, I commit this prayer into Your capable hands. Strengthen me, Lord, as I strive to honor the truth of Psalm 132:4, awake and attentive to the divine mission before me, assured that with each step of faith I take, You are present, guiding, and upholding me. This I ask in the precious name of Jesus, who modeled for us what it means to labor faithfully in Your vineyard.
Amen.
