Heavenly Father,

I come before you today with a heart burdened by the words of the Psalmist in Psalm 137:7: "Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof." Lord, I stand in awe of your holy presence, and I seek your guidance and wisdom as I meditate upon the depths of this verse.

O Lord, you are a God of justice and mercy. You see all things, from the lofty peaks of the mountains to the deepest valleys beneath the earth. You hear the cries of your people and you remember their suffering, even when they feel lost and forgotten. In this verse, we see the painful memory of exiles who, in their sorrow and desperation, recall the bitter words of our adversaries—those who rejoiced in our suffering, those who cried out for the destruction of our beloved Jerusalem. May we never forget the history we carry, the wounds that have not fully healed.

As we ponder the actions of the Edomites, I pray for the ability to understand the weight of their words: "Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof." They stood as witnesses to the devastation, calling for the complete destruction of a city that held our hopes and dreams. This plea reminds us of the frailty of our human existence and the reality that there are those who would seek our downfall. But in this knowledge, grant us the courage not to desire vengeance, but rather a heart that longs for understanding, healing, and reconciliation.

Lord, we ask for your remembrance of those who have historically offended us, those who have celebrated our misfortunes and sought our ruin. In our fragile state, we may wish ill on our enemies, that you may bring them to justice; however, we long instead for your transforming love to touch their hearts, leading them away from hostility and towards your peace. May we learn to respond not with bitterness, but with love and compassion, even towards those who aim to destroy.

As your children, we find ourselves in similar situations as the Israelites of old. There are moments when we feel the world's pressure—moments when the foundations of our faith seem to be shaken, as our hearts resonate with the lament of the psalmist. In times of trials and tribulations, remind us, O God, to turn our eyes upon you. Help us remember that you are sovereign and that though we may face destruction, your promise of restoration remains unbroken.

Lord, in your grace, return our hearts to you. Draw us closer when our spirits grow weary from sorrow; renew our strength like that of the eagle. As we reach out to you, may we find comfort and resilience rooted in your word. Let your presence be our sanctuary, our place of refuge. Enable us to stand firm in hope, declaring that while the foundations of our lives may rattle, they will not be cast down, for you are our cornerstone.

Finally, as we wait on you, grant us the vision to see the world through your eyes—a world longing for healing, for restoration, and for love. Help us to be carriers of reconciliation, echoing the sentiment of your heart amidst a broken society. May our prayers and actions point to the promise of renewal found in Christ our Lord, who overcame not with swords, but with love.

Thank you, O Lord, for hearing our prayer today. May we carry the weight of remembrance with us, transformed by your grace, ready to rebuild what is broken, and ultimately celebrating the restoration of all things. In Your holy name, we pray.
