Clothed With a Cloud: A Prayer Before the Mighty Angel of Revelation 10:1

"And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:" - Revelation 10:1

"And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:" - Revelation 10:{verse.verse_number}

Most High God, Lord of heaven and earth, I come before Thee with reverence and holy awe, remembering what Thy Word declares: “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:” (Revelation 10:1, KJV). O Lord, let this vision awaken my heart to Thy greatness, and let it restore within me a trembling wonder at the majesty of Thy rule over all creation.

Father, I confess that my eyes are often fixed upon things that are small, passing, and near at hand. Yet Thy Word lifts my gaze to heaven, where Thou dost reign in glory, and where Thy messengers move according to Thy command. When the Scripture says, “I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven,” I am reminded that all authority belongs unto Thee, and that heaven is not distant or powerless, but active and sovereign over the affairs of men. Teach me to live with the awareness that Thou art working even when I cannot see it, and that Thy purposes stand sure.

Lord, the angel is described as “clothed with a cloud.” I ask Thee to cover me with Thy presence, and to hide me from pride and self-reliance. Let the cloud remind me of Thy holiness and the mystery of Thy ways. When I cannot trace Thy hand, help me to trust Thy heart. Keep me from demanding answers with impatience, and grant me quiet strength to wait upon Thee with faith.

And Thy Word says, “and a rainbow was upon his head.” God of covenant mercy, I thank Thee that Thou art faithful. As the rainbow testifies that Thou dost remember Thy promises, so let my life also bear witness that Thy mercy endureth for ever. When condemnation, fear, and accusation rise against me, cause me to remember Thy grace, and let the rainbow of Thy faithfulness be set upon the thoughts of my mind. Make me a person who trusts Thee not only when days are bright, but also when storms gather.

Thy Word continues: “and his face was as it were the sun.” O Lord, let the light of heaven shine upon my darkness. Search me and know me. Expose every hidden sin, every deceitful motive, every compromise I have excused. Yet as Thou dost reveal, also cleanse; as Thou dost shine, also heal. Let Thy truth be brighter than my excuses, and let Thy holiness be warmer than my coldness. May my life reflect Thy light, and may I walk as one who belongs to Thee.

And it is written, “and his feet as pillars of fire.” Lord, establish me with steadfastness and purity. Let my steps be guarded from crooked paths. Burn away what is unclean in my desires, my words, and my habits. Grant me courage to stand firm when righteousness is costly and obedience is hard. Make me stable in doctrine, faithful in prayer, and unwavering in love.

O God, as I behold the might and glory described in Revelation 10:1, I pray that my heart would bow deeper before Thee. Teach me to fear Thy name with a clean fear, to love Thee with a whole heart, and to serve Thee with readiness. Prepare me for the day when all things hidden shall be made manifest, and when Thy purposes shall be brought to completion. Let me not be found asleep, careless, or distracted, but watching, praying, and faithful.

Strengthen Thy church, Lord, to proclaim Thy Word with clarity and boldness. Clothe us with power from on high, and keep us under Thy covenant mercy. Let the light of Thy truth shine through us, and let our walk be purified as with fire. And in my own life, make me obedient where I have delayed, humble where I have insisted, and patient where I have hurried.

I give Thee praise, O Lord, for Thou art the God who sends forth His mighty works, whose glory cannot be diminished, and whose promises cannot fail. I rest my soul beneath Thy sovereign hand. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer: But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth. And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey. And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings."
