A Prayer of Righteousness and Justice
"And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus." - Revelation 16:5

O Lord, our God, you who are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, I come before You today with a heart full of reverence and humility. Your word in Revelation 16:5 has resonated deeply within my spirit, reminding me of your everlasting righteousness. As I reflect on the words spoken by the angel of the waters, declaring, "Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus," I am filled with both awe and gratitude for your divine nature and your righteous judgments.
Most Holy Sovereign, I acknowledge that You are eternal and unchanging, existing in every moment of time - in the past, present, and future. Your perspective transcends time and space, and I am comforted by the truth that everything that you do is rooted in righteousness. When I look at the world around me, I see so much that is unjust, so many struggles and pains that weigh heavily on the hearts of those I love and those I encounter. In these moments, I am reminded of your sovereignty over all creation – that even when it seems chaos reigns, You hold the ultimate authority and Your judgments are always righteous.
Lord, as I meditate on your righteousness, I ask for your forgiveness for the times when I have doubted your goodness. For I know that your ways are higher than my ways, and your thoughts are higher than my thoughts. When I see injustice in society, when I witness suffering, I pray that you would help me to remember that you judge with perfect wisdom. You see every tear, every cry for help, and every injustice that goes unnoticed by the world. You are not an indifferent God, but a just one who takes action to uphold truth and righteousness.
Help me to trust in your perfect plan, dear Lord. As the angel declared, "Thou art righteous, O Lord" – I affirm this with my mouth and my heart. I pray that your righteousness would not just be a theological concept for me, but a real and active influence in my life. May I align my thoughts, my actions, and my words with your righteous nature.
Jesus, remind me to be an agent of your justice in the world. Let my heart break for what breaks yours. Enable me to be someone who stands up against injustice, violence, and hatred, proclaiming your love and righteousness in everything I do. Instill in me a passion for truth and a thirst for justice that reflects your own character. Help me to become a voice for the voiceless and a light in the dark places, using whatever resources and gifts you have entrusted to me to bring glory to your name.
Holy Spirit, fill me with your power to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. When I am faced with difficult decisions or challenging circumstances, remind me of your righteousness and guide my actions. May my life echo the truth that you are righteous and worthy of all praise.
Finally, I long for that day when all will be made right according to your perfect judgments. I look forward to the fulfillment of your promises, when sorrow and suffering will cease, and we shall witness your righteousness fully displayed. Until then, help me to remain faithful, to trust in your righteous character, and to share the hope that is found in you.
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I offer this prayer, thanking you for your righteousness, your justice, and your unfailing love. Amen.
