Heavenly Father,

I come before You today with a humble heart, seeking Your guidance and wisdom in the midst of the tumultuous times that we witness around us. I lift my voice to You, inspired by the words of Revelation 18:17, where it is written, "For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off."

Lord, as I meditate on this scripture, I am reminded of the fragility of earthly wealth and the fleeting nature of human endeavors. The riches of this world can disappear in a moment, leaving behind nothing but emptiness and despair. I ask You to help me grasp the significance of this truth in my own life and to instill in me a heart that prioritizes eternal treasures over temporal gains.

Father, You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who provides for all our needs. Yet, too often, I find myself entangled in the pursuit of wealth, status, and the comforts of this world. I confess that I have sometimes sought validation and security in material possessions rather than finding my assurance in You. Help me to recognize that true richness comes from a deeper relationship with You, the source of all wisdom and blessing.

As I reflect on the shipmasters and sailors in the verse, I see a picture of those who have dedicated their lives to trade, driven by aspirations of fortune only to find themselves standing far off, witnessing the destruction of their labor. Lord, I pray for all who are caught in this cycle – those who chase after the wind, focusing solely on the accumulation of wealth, only to face disillusionment when it falters. May they find their hope in You, and may they understand that You desire us to be rich in good works rather than in material gain.

I intercede, Lord, for our communities and nations that often prioritize greed over generosity, and profit over people. Help us to be watchful and discerning, to recognize the signs of the times, and to respond with faith rather than fear. Teach us that in times of judgment, we must not fear the loss of riches but understand them as a tool that can either draw us closer to You or distance us from Your presence.

Grant me a heart that is generous and eager to share the blessings You have bestowed upon me. May I remember that I am merely a steward of what You have entrusted to me, and help me use this stewardship to glorify Your name by aiding those in need and furthering Your kingdom on earth.

I pray for those who suffer the consequences of economic collapse, for the workers who lose their livelihoods, and the families who struggle. May Your compassion reach out to them. May we, as Your church, rise in this time of need, offering hope, aid, and solace to those in despair, serving as vessels of Your love and mercy.

Lord, I also seek Your divine wisdom in understanding the lessons behind the chaos we see unfolding in the world. Your Word tells us that in an hour, what we hold dear can be stripped away. Prepare my heart not to cling to the things of this world but to seek first the kingdom of God and rest assured that all other things shall be added unto me. Remind me that every trial holds a purpose, and through every shaking, You are bringing forth a greater vision that aligns with Your will for our lives and this world.

In these last days, Lord, help me to stand firm in my faith, to be a light in the darkness, and to point others to You, the true source of life and riches. Keep my eyes fixed on eternity, and ignite a passion in my heart to live each day in a manner that is pleasing to You.
