A Prayer for Anticipation and Readiness in the Coming of Christ

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." - Revelation 22:20

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus." - Revelation 22:{verse.verse_number}

Heavenly Father,

In the quietness of our hearts, we gather before You, acknowledging Your greatness and the promise of Your coming. As we meditate on the words of Revelation 22:20, where it is written, "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus," we are reminded of the urgency and excitement of Your imminent return.

Lord Jesus, as we reflect on Your promise that You shall return, we ask for the grace to live in anticipation of that glorious day. Help us to be a people who are watchful and ready, waiting with bated breath for the sound of the trumpet call that will signal Your coming in the clouds. You, who have testified through Your Word and through the Spirit, have assured us that Your coming is near, and we hold onto that promise with faith and hope.

Father, in this world where distractions abound, keep our hearts and minds focused on You. It is easy to become consumed with the cares of life, with worries and fears that threaten to ensnare us. Yet, we pray for eyes that see beyond the temporal, for hearts that are anchored in Your eternal truth. May we be unshaken by the turbulence around us, trusting in Your sovereignty and in the promise that You are coming quickly.

Even as we ask You to come, we confess that there are times we get lost along the way. We confess our sins and ask for Your mercy to cleanse us and make us pure before You. In anticipation of Your return, we desire to live lives that reflect Your glory. Help us to be diligent in our service to You and to others. Empower us to share the Good News of Your Gospel, calling all to repent and believe, that they too may eagerly await Your return.

Lord, we also pray for the world around us. With each passing day, the signs of the times grow clearer, revealing a world in need of Your light. We pray for those who are lost, who do not know You, those caught up in darkness and despair. Give us a burden for their souls that compels us to reach out in love and truth, sharing the hope we have in You. May they come to know the assurance that we hold, that You shall return, and that You invite all to come unto You.

Moreover, we pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world who are facing persecution and trials because of their faith. Strengthen them, Lord, as they stand firm in their testimonies. May they find comfort in the knowledge that they are not alone and that You, the righteous Judge, will come to deliver and reward them for their steadfastness. Grant them peace that surpasses all understanding amid their struggles, knowing that their labor for Your Kingdom is not in vain.

As we delight in Your Word, may we grow in our understanding of Your character and Your love. Ignite within us a passion for holiness and righteousness. We long to hear You say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Help us to remain vigilant, expectant, and prepared, so that when You come, we may run to meet You with joy and not shame.

Concluding our prayer this day, we echo the words of the Scriptures: "Even so, come, Lord Jesus." May our hearts cry out for Your return, living in eager anticipation of that blessed hope. Until we meet You face to face, may we stay faithful in our walk and our witness, demonstrating Your love to a world that desperately needs it.

In the name of Jesus, our King and Savior, we pray. Amen.
