A Prayer for the Multitude Before the Throne

"After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." - Revelation 7:9-17

O Great and Glorious God,

In humble reverence, we come before Thee, inspired by the vision revealed in Revelation 7:9-17, where a great multitude stands before Thy throne. We find ourselves in awe of this majestic sight—a countless assembly of souls from every nation, kindred, and tongue, united in worship. As we lift our voices to Thee, we meditate on the profound meaning of this passage and the hope it represents for all who seek Thee.

Father, we marvel at the diversity of the redeemed, for Thou hast made every tribe, every people, and every language, and it is Thy divine intention that from these diverse backgrounds, a beautiful chorus of praise arises unto Thee. How grateful we are that the gift of salvation is not confined to a single group, but encompasses all who would come. Lord, we pray that we keep this in our hearts, promoting inclusivity and love within our communities, echoing the praises of the multitude depicted in this vision. May our churches be havens of acceptance and grace, where all are welcomed into the fold of Thy love.

O Lord, we see the multitude clothed in white robes, celebrating victory through the cleansing blood of the Lamb. We acknowledge our own need for Thy mercy, for without it, we would remain stained and unworthy. We thank Thee, Jesus, our Lamb, for the profound sacrifice that grants us redemption and righteousness. We plead, O God, that Thou would cleanse us daily; help us to wash our robes in Thy blood, making us pure and fit for Thy service. Let our lives be a testament to the transformative power of Thy grace.

As the multitude raises their voices saying, "Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb," we join in this heavenly chorus. We declare the greatness of Thy Name! We honor Thy blessings, Thy wisdom, and Thy power. How often we take for granted the very breath we breathe—it is a gift from Thee! We thank Thee for the love and mercy that sustains us, especially in moments of despair.

Father, in times of distress, we stand in solidarity with those who have faced great tribulation. We acknowledge that many believers around the world still suffer persecution and hardship for their faith. Just as the elder in the vision identified those in white robes as those who overcame trials, we ask that Thou would comfort and strengthen those who are weary and burdened. Remind them, and us, that the suffering of this present time is not worthy to be compared to the glory which shall be revealed in us.

We look forward to the promise that they shall want for nothing; they shall hunger no more, nor shall they thirst. How we long for that day, O God, when the burdens of this world will cease to weigh upon us! Guide us to place our trust in You, the ultimate provider, knowing that You lead us to living fountains of waters. May we partake of Thy sustenance through prayer, worship, and the reading of Thy Word, filling our souls with the living water that quenches all thirst.

Lord, as we behold the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne, we are reminded of the peace and comfort He brings. O how we yearn for the day when every tear shall be wiped from our eyes—what joy that will be! Until that great day arrives, remind us to be instruments of Thy peace, spreading love and comfort to those around us.

In closing, we invoke Thy holy presence, asking that we may carry the spirit of that great multitude in our hearts. Let our lives reflect their devotion, their victory, and their unyielding faith. We thank Thee, Lord, for the hope we have in Thee, and we praise Thee now and forevermore.

Amen.

Revelation 7:9-17 - "After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb." All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: "Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!"

Then one of the elders asked me, "These in white robes—who are they, and where did they come from?" I answered, "Sir, you know." And he said, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore, they are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence. 'Never again will they hunger; never again will they thirst. The sun will not beat down on them,' nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; 'he will lead them to springs of living water.' 'And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'"
