A Prayer of Acknowledgment and Commitment
"I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise." - Romans 1:14

Heavenly Father,
As I come before You today, I am aware of the profound truth embedded in the words of Romans 1:14, 'I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.' Lord, I recognize the weight of this verse and the call it places upon my life. You, in Your infinite wisdom, have entrusted me with the Gospel and the Good News of Jesus Christ. In acknowledging this, I understand that I am a debtor—not in the sense of financial obligations, but in the sense of divine responsibility to share Your love, grace, and truth with all of humanity.
Father, like the Apostle Paul, I feel this debt pressing upon my heart. It drives me to action, compelling me to reach out to the Greeks—the educated, the learned, those who seek knowledge and understanding in the world. Help me, O Lord, to communicate Your message in a way that resonates with them, using the wisdom and intellect You have given me. May I be a vessel for Your light among those who pursue truth through scholarly endeavors, so they may come to know that true wisdom is found in Christ alone.
At the same time, I am also reminded of my calling to the Barbarians—the marginalized, the overlooked, and those who are not regarded in society. Help me to see beyond labels and prejudices, to recognize the intrinsic value in every individual, regardless of their background or status. Just as Paul was called to proclaim the Gospel to all, help me engage with those whom the world deems unwise or foolish. Allow me to embody Your love in action, showing that Your kindness supersedes societal norms.
Lord, I pray for the wise and the unwise alike. In my interactions, may I embody humility and compassion, seeking to learn from those who are wise while also extending grace to those who stumble in ignorance. Teach me to listen, to understand, and to nurture relationships that reflect Your heart. This prayer is for all who surround me: the neighbors, colleagues, and friends who do not yet know Your saving grace.
As I step into this calling, I ask for boldness to share the message of hope, even when it feels daunting. Remind me, Father, that the burden of this debt does not come from fear but from love—love for You and love for others. I remember your commandment to love my neighbor as myself, and I hold that close as I navigate my mission.
Heavenly Father, I ask for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit to equip me with the necessary tools to fulfill this obligation. Grant me the clarity to communicate the Gospel effectively, the patience to endure challenges, and the perseverance to reach those who seem unreachable.
Transform my heart, Lord, so that I may see each person as You see them—as souls hungry for truth and understanding, yearning for Your light in their lives. Instill within me a spirit of servanthood, that my actions may reflect Your love and grace.
I praise You, O God, for the gift of the Gospel and the privilege of being a debtor to both the wise and unwise. May my life be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may I faithfully carry out the mission You have entrusted to me. I commit this prayer to You, trusting that You will guide my steps and lead me to opportunities to share Your truth.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
