A Prayer for Glory, Honour, and Peace
“But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:” — Romans 2:10
O Lord Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, we come before You with hearts humbled by the profound truths of Your Word. We are reminded today of Romans 2:10 which states, "But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile." Lord, as we ponder these words, let us be filled with the Spirit of understanding and the desire to embody the teachings of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gracious Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Scripture, a powerful guide in our lives. It is through Your Word that we find direction and purpose, and we stand in awe of the promise of glory, honour, and peace that You bestow upon those who diligently seek to do good. Help us to grasp the magnificent implications of this verse, for it stretches beyond nationality and culture; it encompasses all mankind.
We acknowledge that glory is often misrepresented in the world — a fleeting sense of accomplishment often pursued for selfish gain. But Lord, we seek the glory that comes from You, the glory that radiates from a life lived in service to others. Teach us to work good in Your name, that our actions might reflect Your love and grace. Let every decision, every word, every deed flow from a heart devoted to righteousness and a commitment to serve. May our lives be a living testimony to Your goodness, drawing others to the light of Your glory.
Dear Lord, honour is another gift You promise to those who work good. In a world that often honors wealth, power, and prestige, we ask that You remind us of true honour — the kind that comes from being in right standing with You and serving our brothers and sisters. Help us to honour others above ourselves, treating each person with the dignity they deserve as Your creation. Guide us away from the pursuit of worldly accolades and free us from the chains of envy and competition. May we celebrate one another's successes and uplift those in need, understanding that honour lies not in recognition, but in love and service.
And Father, we prayerfully seek peace. In a time marked by strife, division, and heartache, we earnestly desire the peace that surpasses all understanding. Pour out Your spirit of peace upon us, that we may be instruments of Your peace to a world in turmoil. As we seek to do good, let our actions ripple through our communities, fostering reconciliation and unity. May we be peacemakers, bridging divides and shining Your light in the darkest corners.
We acknowledge the distinction made in Your Word — to the Jew first and also to the Gentile. Father, we ask for a heart that is open and inclusive, willing to learn from and honour the narratives of all cultures and peoples. Help us to understand our collective responsibility to work for the good of all humanity, transcending barriers of ethnicity and creed. May our lives be a testament that in Your Kingdom, there is no division; all are welcome to bask in Your glory, honour, and peace.
Lord, empower us with the strength to do good in our daily lives. Inspire us to seek opportunities to serve, to lend a helping hand, to speak words of encouragement, and to walk alongside those who are struggling. Reignite the passion within us to be Your hands and feet in a world that desperately needs Your love and light.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, we pray. Amen.
