A Prayer for Unity and Wisdom Among Brethren
"1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers. 7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? 8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren." - 1 Corinthians 6:1-8

O Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, humbled and awestruck by Your divine wisdom and understanding. In the face of conflicts and disputes which arise among us, let us be reminded of the profound words recorded in 1 Corinthians 6:1-8. Your Scriptures call us into a greater awareness of our duties not only to one another but to the community of saints and to the testimony of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Lord, in our human nature, we often succumb to the temptation to resolve matters of the heart through secular means. We find ourselves, at times, bearing grievances against our brothers and sisters and, rather than approaching them with love and a spirit of reconciliation, we seek judgment from the unjust. Forgive us, Father, for this discord. Help us to fully embrace the truth that You have set before us, that we dare not take our issues to law before the unjust but rather, let us bring them before the saints.
Your Word boldly asks, "Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world?" Oh, what a powerful reminder of the high calling we bear as believers! You have not called us to idle disputes but to reign in Your righteousness. Help us, O Lord, to grasp the gravity of this calling—to be judges of the smallest matters. We pray for clarity in our hearts and minds, and that we may always remember our sacred identity as Your children, entrusted with the power to resolve conflicts within the fellowship of believers in a manner that reflects Your glory.
Teach us, Lord, that we ought to be wise stewards of our relationships. Your Word declares, "If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church." May Your wisdom inspire us to seek counsel from our brothers and sisters in faith, rather than turning to the courts of this world. Let us encourage one another, serving as mediators of grace, truth, and love, to navigate through disputes that may arise among us.
Father, we confess that there are times when our pride blinds us, and we refuse to yield or to suffer wrong. We are reminded, however, that true strength lies in humility, and that there is virtue in bearing the burdens of others, just as Christ bore our burdens. Help us learn to choose peace over contention, and to embody the character of Christ who taught us to love our enemies and do good to those who wrong us. Let us be quick to forgive and slow to anger, as it is written that we should not let the sun go down upon our wrath.
Reconcile our hearts, O God, that we may genuinely desire the well-being of our brethren over personal gain. We declare, "Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren,” and we pray that every spirit of jealousy, strife, and greed be uprooted from among us. May Your Holy Spirit guide us as we endeavor to build a community rooted in love, trust, and mutual respect. Let every disagreement be founded in a desire for restoration rather than a pursuit of victory.
We seek Your grace to embody Your principles in our daily lives, that the world may see our unity and be drawn to the light of Christ through us. As we face disagreements, give us courage to speak truthfully, hearts that are willing to listen, and a spirit ready to forgive—as members of one Body, filled with one Spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray that You bring healing and restoration to our relationships and that, through us, Your love may be vividly displayed. We trust in Your ability to mend what is broken and to bring forth unity among Your saints.
Amen.

1 Corinthians 6:1-8 - "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unrighteous, and not before the saints? Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world will be judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Do you not know that we shall judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life? If then you have judgments concerning things pertaining to this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed by the church to judge? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you, not even one, who will be able to judge between his brethren? But brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers! Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated? No, you yourselves do wrong and cheat, and you do these things to your brethren!"
