A Prayer for Divine Presence Amidst Betrayal
"And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him," - Acts 7:9

Heavenly Father,
As I come before you today, I am filled with awe at Your faithfulness and the profound truths revealed in Your Word. In the midst of my circumstances, I find great comfort and strength in the passage from Acts 7:9, where it is declared, "And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him." Lord, how remarkable it is to know that even in the darkest of times, even when betrayal seemed to reign, You were with Joseph.
Father, I thank you for Your constant presence in our lives, for the assurance that no matter what we face, You are beside us. The story of Joseph is a powerful reminder of how envy and strife can emerge amongst those who are supposed to care for us. Just like the patriarchs who allowed jealousy to cloud their judgment, we too can find ourselves in challenging relationships, be it with family, friends, or coworkers. Help us, Lord, to remain steadfast in our faith when we encounter the envy or malice of others.
Lord, I pray that You grant us the wisdom to discern the hearts of those around us, that we may respond with grace instead of resentment. When we are faced with betrayal, let us not focus solely on the actions of others but rather on the truth that You are always at work within our lives. I ask that You provide us with the courage to forgive those who wrong us, as Joseph displayed mercy to his brothers despite the wrong they had done. Help us to remember that you have a greater plan for our lives, one that includes peace and reconciliation even amidst our trials.
Lord, as You were with Joseph, I pray that Your comforting presence would surround us, bringing peace to our storms. In moments of despair, let us cling to the truth that You have a purpose for every pain we endure. Just as You turned Joseph's betrayal into a means for the salvation of many, may we trust that our struggles can lead to greater good if we remain faithful to You and Your calling.
I acknowledge that sometimes our hearts can be lead astray by feelings of rejection and sorrow. Father, I ask that You heal those wounds in my heart. Help me to turn those feelings of betrayal into opportunities for growth and maturity. Teach me to rely on You more deeply, understanding that while people may let us down, You never will. You are my refuge, my stronghold, my ever-present help in trouble.
Lord, I pray for those who may currently find themselves in situations similar to Joseph’s – cast aside, overlooked, or treated unjustly. May they find solace in Your presence, knowing that You are working behind the scenes and that their current circumstances are not the end of the journey. Open their eyes to see the paths You are leading them on, giving them hope for the future.
Help all of us to seek You in times of adversity and acknowledge that through every trial, we grow closer to You. Let us be reminded of how Joseph, despite his trials, remained faithful and diligent, which eventually led to his exaltation and the fulfillment of Your promises. May we embody that same perseverance, knowing that "but God was with him" is a declaration that can be said of us too.
Lastly, I pray for a spirit of unity and love among those who bear Your name. May we reflect Your love in our interactions and support one another in our struggles, choosing to uplift rather than envy, and to love rather than betray. May we, like Joseph, walk in trust and faith, assured that You are always with us.
In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
