Heavenly Father,

We come before You today, acknowledging Your sovereignty and justice that reigns over all creation. Your Word is a lamp unto our feet, and we seek the wisdom that it provides to guide us in our daily lives. We come in reverence and awe of Your holiness, reflecting on the depth of Your law as we meditate on the profound verse from Exodus 21:23, where You instruct: "And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life."

Lord, we understand that justice is a fundamental aspect of Your character. You are the righteous judge who sees all, knows all, and weighs deeds with perfect fairness. In a world that often seems governed by chaos and injustice, we humbly ask that You instill in our hearts a desire for truth and righteousness. May Your justice flow through us, guiding our thoughts and actions so that we might mirror Your intent in our interactions with others.

As we reflect on the words "life for life," we are reminded, Lord, of the preciousness of life as a gift that comes from You. Each person, made in Your image, carries inherent worth and value. We pray for those who find themselves caught in cycles of conflict and revenge, struggling to navigate the repercussions of mischief done to them or their loved ones. Grant them the grace to forgive, and the strength to break free from the chains of retribution that bind them.
