A Prayer for Deliverance and Softened Hearts
"¶ And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go." - Exodus 7:14

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts bowed and souls yearning for understanding and deliverance. We reflect upon the powerful words You spoke to Moses in Exodus 7:14, "And the LORD said unto Moses, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go." This verse reveals the profound struggle between Your will and the stubbornness of human pride.
Lord, we acknowledge that just as Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, so too can our hearts become calloused by pride, fear, and rebellion. We confess the moments in our own lives when we have refused to heed Your calling, when we have resisted the gentle nudges of Your Spirit. Just as Pharaoh’s refusal to let go cost him dearly, we realize that holding onto false securities and worldly attachments can lead us away from the freedom found in You.
Father, we pray for a lesson from history; let it serve as a reminder not only of the consequences of hardened hearts but also of Your unmatched power to deliver. Just as You sent Moses with a message of liberation, we ask that You raise up leaders, within our communities and nations, who will turn their hearts toward You, bringing justice and mercy.
Lord, we beseech You to soften the hearts of all who, like Pharaoh, have become entrenched in stubbornness. Help those in authority to see the plight of the oppressed, open their eyes to the needs of the marginalized, and instill in them the courage to act justly. We pray for those who exploit, manipulate, or oppress, that they might encounter Your love and grace, leading them to repentance and a desire to serve others rather than themselves.
As we think of Pharaoh’s refusal, we are reminded of how fear often fuels defiance. We ask You to cast out the fears that prevent us from embracing change, both personally and collectively. Teach us that obeying Your directives brings liberation and peace rather than bondage and strife. Remove the barriers that keep us from recognizing our own shortcomings.
Guide us, Lord, in our own struggles with pride. When we are tempted to harden our hearts against others, remind us of the mercy You have shown us. May we extend that same grace to others, helping to melt the barriers that divide us. Empower us to stand up for righteousness, to be vessels of Your love, and to boldly proclaim the freedom that comes from faith in You.
O Mighty God, we pray for those who feel trapped in their current circumstances. Just as You sent Moses to deliver the Israelites from Egypt, we ask that You raise up deliverers today to lead those in bondage to a place of safety and hope. Help us to be those instruments of peace and love, to reach out and support others, shining Your light in places overshadowed by despair.
As we reflect on Your will and ways, help us to trust in Your timing and purpose. Let our waiting not turn into resignation, but a hopeful anticipation of the good You are working. Let us not be influenced by the hard-heartedness around us, but let Your Spirit grow in us a heart of compassion, leading us to speak truth and love boldly.
In all things, remind us, Lord, that the true freedom we seek is found in You. As we pray against hardness of heart, may we ourselves be diligent in keeping our hearts tender towards Your leading. May our lives be a testament to Your redemptive power, shining brightly with every act of kindness and love.
In Jesus’s powerful name, we pray, Amen.
