A Prayer for Faith in the One Who Sends
"¶ Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me." - John 12:44

O Loving and Gracious God,
As I come before You in prayer, my heart is filled with a sacred reverence for the profound truth found in Your Word, as expressed in John 12:44, where Jesus proclaimed, “He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.” Lord, I am truly humbled by this revelation. It speaks volumes of the divine nature of Christ and the beautiful relationship between You, our Father, and Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
In this moment, I seek to comprehend the depths of faith. I desire to understand what it truly means to believe not only in Jesus Christ, my Redeemer, but also in You, the One who sent Him. Help me to realize that my faith is not merely an endorsement of a person, but a continuation of a divine plan that began long before I was even formed. May I begin to grasp the sacred mystery that believing in Jesus is rooted in believing in You, dear Father.
Lord, I acknowledge that in this world, there are many voices that clamor for my attention, each promising truth and life, yet so often leading me astray. There are countless ideologies and doctrines that seek to draw me away from the simplicity of faith in You through Christ. I ask for discernment, Lord. Grant me the wisdom to distinguish between the fleeting and the eternal, between the transient and the truth that endures. Illuminate my path with Your guiding light so that I may always return my focus to the centrality of Jesus in my walk of faith.
Father, Your Word reminds me that Jesus cried out to the world, revealing Your heart to humanity. What a beautiful picture that paints of Your relentless pursuit of us! It is Your desire that we would not only know of Jesus but that we would understand the very heartbeat of our faith lies in our relationship with You. I promise to strive toward this understanding. Help me Lord to cling tightly to the belief that through accepting Christ, I am ultimately embracing You and the plan You have for me.
Teach me daily to affirm my trust in You. Let my heart echo the words of the psalmist, who declared in Psalm 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” May I lean not on my limited understanding, but in every circumstance, whether triumph or trial, may my eyes be fixed upon You, knowing that You are the orchestrator of all that I encounter.
Lord, increase my faith! Allow me to experience You in the struggles and victories of life. Show me how to effectively communicate my belief in You and reveal the way of Christ to those around me, both in word and action. As I live my life, may my belief reflect that of Jesus—that it is not merely about me but rather about the glory of God, the One who sent Him into the world to save and to redeem.
Lord, help me be a voice that proclaims the truth of Christ, sharing the good news that believing in Jesus goes beyond the personal and stretches into the infinite love of the Father. Teach me to share this message with grace, compassion, and boldness, so others may also come to believe in Him who sent You.
As I draw near to You in prayer, embolden me in my life to live out a faith that actively acknowledges the authority of Jesus while lifting up Your holy name in every place I go. Take my heart, Lord, that it might reflect both my belief in Your Son and my devotion to You, our Heavenly Father. May I be a living testament to the truth that only You can bring light, and in Your light, we find our way.
In the precious name of Christ, who was sent for our salvation, I pray, Amen.
