A Prayer of Forgiveness and Faith
"And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." - Mark 11:25

Almighty and Gracious Father,
As I come before You today, I humbly bow my head in reverence to Your holiness and love. I acknowledge the sacredness of Your presence and the depth of Your mercy and grace. Your Word, Lord, is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path; and today I reflect deeply on Mark 11:25, which reminds me, "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."
Lord, I seek Your guidance as I grapple with the weight of forgiveness that You are calling me to embrace. Your command is clear, yet the act of forgiving, especially when it involves deep hurt and betrayal, can feel daunting. Help me, Father, to open my heart wide to this essential truth: that to receive Your forgiveness, I also must be a vessel of forgiveness.
I confess, Lord, that there have been times when I have held onto grudges and resentments, allowing them to fester within my spirit. I have allowed anger and pain to cloud my heart and hinder my relationship with You and with others. But now, I ask that Your Holy Spirit would sweep through my heart, exposing the areas where I have harbored unforgiveness. Illuminate those places, Lord, so that I may acknowledge them and let go of all hurt that binds me.
As I pray, I lift up those who have wronged me. I struggle with the feelings of betrayal and disappointment that have accompanied their actions. But I know, O God, that You call me to be like You, to reflect Your heart, which forgives abundantly and seeks healing. Teach me, Lord, to see others through Your eyes. Help me to understand that no one is beyond redemption—that each person I struggle to forgive is also a child of God, deserving of love and grace.
May I extend to them the same grace You extend toward me, for I, too, am in need of Your forgiveness every day. Remind me of my own shortcomings, of the times I have turned away from Your Light, and of the forgiveness You generously offer to me when I confess my trespasses. In remembering this, I find the strength to forgive those who have hurt me. Fill my heart with compassion and empathy; soften the hard places until they flow with the peace of Your love.
Lord, I also recognize that forgiveness is not merely a one-time act, but a continuous journey and sometimes an arduous process. Give me patience with myself as I navigate this path. Help me to pray for those who have wronged me, to wish them the best, and to release the hold their actions have had over my spirit. Empower me to truly let go of the past and look forward with hope, free from the shackles of bitterness.
Father, I seek to build relationships underpinned by Your principles of love and forgiveness. Help me to approach others in grace and humility, fostering a spirit of unity and peace, displaying the magnificent mercy You have shown to me. I pray for the courage to forgive even where it seems impossible and the wisdom to know when I need to set boundaries in love.
So as I stand praying, I freely give forgiveness, trusting in the promise that as I offer grace to others, I too will receive grace from You. May every prayer ascend before You unencumbered by bitterness and may my heart be lightened by the beauty of forgiveness.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer. Thank You for Your unfailing love that continually calls me back to You. I stand in faith, embracing the transformative power of forgiveness that You enable in me. In Jesus' name, I pray,
Amen.
