Heavenly Father,

As I come before You in this sacred moment of prayer, I wish to reflect deeply on the lessons encapsulated in the words of Matthew 18:28, where it is written, "But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest." Lord, I recognize that this scripture serves as a powerful reminder of Your boundless grace and the critical need for forgiveness in our lives.

O Lord of mercy, I first seek Your forgiveness for the times when I have acted like the ungrateful servant—when I have received Your immense grace and love and yet have withheld forgiveness from others. Forgive me, Lord, for the moments when I have failed to extend the same compassion that You have showered upon me. Forgive me for being quick to judge and slow to forgive, for allowing pride and resentment to cloud my heart, and for forgetting the immeasurable debt from which I have been freed by Your sacrifice.

Help me to understand, O Lord, that no offense committed against me can compare to the vastness of the offenses I have laid before You. In Your words, Lord, I am reminded that every time I fail to forgive, I place myself back into the chains of bitterness and resentment. I pray that You will soften my heart, allowing me to open myself up to the grace I once received. Teach me to look into the eyes of others through the lens of Your love, seeing not only their shortcomings but also their need for grace.

Dear God, I ask that You fill me with the strength to extend forgiveness to those who have wronged me, those who owe me their peace and goodwill. Help me to speak words of kindness when the temptation arrives to demand repayment for grievances perceived. When injustice looms large and I feel the need to exert control or authority, remind me of Christ’s example—how He, being blameless, forgave those who brutally accused and tormented Him.

Lord, help me to release any lingering grudges that weigh heavy on my heart. Search me, oh God, and bring to light any unresolved anger or resentment I may cling to. Show me how I can let go and free myself from the burden of unforgiveness. May the peace that surpasses all understanding reign in my heart as I surrender these feelings to You.

As I reflect on those who owe me—whether that is in terms of actions, words, or kindness—grant me the wisdom and courage to remember that Your grace is sufficient. Lead me to be a vessel of Your peace and compassion, so that I may reflect Your love in my interactions with others. Let me remember that a forgiving heart can break the chains of anger and create a ripple effect that may transform my community.

I acknowledge that forgiveness is not simply a transaction, but a process—a journey on which I must embark daily. I ask for Your guidance in this journey. If it feels too overwhelming, grant me patience with myself and the understanding that healing is a gradual unfolding. Allow me to come to You each day, seeking Your help to take the next step in forgiving those around me.

Oh Lord, may I continually remind myself of the endless forgiveness You offer me and strive to emulate that same spirit of forgiveness towards others. Let my actions reflect Your heart, and may my life be a testament to the transformative power of grace and compassion.
