A Prayer for Remembrance and Guidance
"They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:" - Psalms 106:13

Heavenly Father,
We come before Your throne of grace with hearts that are humbled and reverent, acknowledging Your sovereignty and goodness in our lives. As we reflect on the words of Psalm 106:13, “They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel,” we recognize our own propensity to forget the mighty works You have done and to rush ahead without seeking Your divine guidance.
Lord, we confess that too often we are like the Israelites, who witnessed Your miracles in the wilderness yet so quickly dismissed Your faithfulness. We admit how easily we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, focused on our desires, our plans, and our worries, leaving little room for contemplation or remembrance of Your wondrous deeds.
We pray for a Spirit of remembrance to be instilled within us. Help us to recall the moments in our lives where You have intervened, provided, healed, and led us towards paths of righteousness. Whether it was a time of need where You supplied our resources, a period of doubt where Your peace overwhelmed us, or instances of joy and love that filled our hearts, help us to anchor our faith in the truth of Your past faithfulness. May our lives be a testimony that sings of Your goodness and declare Your mighty works to those around us.
Father, we ask for forgiveness for the times we have overlooked Your counsel. In our haste, we have made decisions without consulting You and missed the blessings of waiting on Your timing. Your Word teaches us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in You with all our heart and to lean not on our own understanding. Help us, Lord, to surrender our plans and desires to You. Give us the patience to wait on You, to seek Your wisdom in prayer, and to open our hearts to hear Your voice. Let us be diligent in seeking You, not just in times of trouble, but in all matters of our lives.
We pray for clarity when we seek Your guidance. As we face decisions that weigh heavily on our hearts and minds, may we find comfort in the knowledge that You guide us every step of the way. You are the Good Shepherd who leads us beside still waters and restores our souls. Teach us to be still before You, to meditate on Your Word, and to find solace in the assurance that Your plans for us are good, as stated in Jeremiah 29:11.
Lord, we desire to walk in the path You have set before us, fully aware of Your presence in our daily lives. Instill within us a sense of awe and reverence for all that You have accomplished. Help us not to take for granted the small things that often go unnoticed but form the fabric of our everyday existence. May we remember to glorify You for every blessing, whether big or small, and share these testimonies with others as a way to inspire them to seek You earnestly.
We long to be a people who not only remember Your works but also encourage others to lean on Your counsel. Create within us a spirit that prompts conversations filled with faith and trust in Your promises. As we live out our days, may we shine our light brightly, as reflections of Your love and truth.
In gratitude, we thank You, Father, for the gift of prayer and the opportunity to draw near to You. We trust that by waiting on You and remembering Your works, we will strengthen our faith and inspire those around us to do the same. Help us to be diligent stewards of Your grace, ever mindful of Your guidance and mercy in our lives.
In Jesus’ name, we pray,
Amen.
