Under Thy Wings: A Prayer for Recompense, Refuge, and Full Reward
"The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust." - Ruth 2:12

O LORD God of Israel, I come before Thee with reverence and awe, blessing Thy holy Name and acknowledging Thy faithfulness in every generation. Thou art the God who seeth, the God who leadeth, the God who keepeth covenant and mercy. Today I set my heart upon Thy Word, and I cling to the promise spoken in Ruth 2:12: “The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.”
Lord, I thank Thee that Thou dost not overlook the labour of the hands, nor the hidden sacrifices of the heart. Many works are done in silence—tears that fall unseen, prayers whispered when strength is low, kindness offered when nothing is returned, and obedience chosen when another path seems easier. Yet Thou art the righteous Judge and the faithful Keeper; Thou dost weigh and remember. O God, according to Thy Word, I ask that Thou wouldst recompense the work that is wrought in faith, not for vanity, not for praise of men, but unto Thy glory. Where I have sown in patience, let Thy recompense be sure. Where I have laboured in weariness, let Thy strength renew me. Where I have served in secret, let Thy light shine upon it in Thy perfect time.
Father, I confess that my trust often trembleth. At times I look upon circumstances and fear what shall become of me; at times I measure my worth by what I can see, and my heart groweth anxious. Forgive me, Lord, for the places where I have leaned upon mine own understanding. Teach me to trust Thee more fully, that I may truly be one who hath “come to trust” under Thy wings. Draw me into that holy refuge where fear is stilled, where striving ceaseth, and where my soul findeth rest in Thee.
O LORD, let Thy wings be my shelter. Cover me when the storms arise. Hide me when the enemy accuseth. Guard my mind when troubling thoughts would steal my peace. Keep my steps when the way is uncertain. Under Thy wings, let me be kept from bitterness and from despair. Under Thy wings, let my faith be strengthened, my hope revived, and my love purified. Make me content to abide close to Thee, not chasing after false security, not seeking refuge in the approval of men, but resting in Thy steadfast love.
And Lord, as Thy Word saith, I ask for “a full reward” given of Thee. Not merely a small portion, not a passing comfort, but a reward that is full—complete according to Thy wisdom and rich according to Thy mercy. Let this reward be first within: a clean heart, a right spirit, and joy that cannot be taken away. Let it be also in my home: peace within our walls, unity where there hath been division, tenderness where there hath been harshness, and faithfulness in every relationship. Let it be in my daily provision: give me my bread, order my steps, and open doors that no man can shut. If Thou dost prosper the work of my hands, keep me humble and thankful, that I may honour Thee and bless others.
I pray, O God, for all who feel forgotten, overlooked, or weary in well doing. Let Ruth 2:12 be their song in the night: “The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.” Speak it into their hearts as comfort and courage. Strengthen the faithful labourer, the caring parent, the servant in the house of God, the one who intercedeth in secret, and the one who endureth hardship with quiet hope. Remind them that the same LORD who calleth also recompenseth, and the same God who inviteth also rewardeth.
Lord, keep me near to Thee, that my work may be pure and my motives upright. Let me not grow weary. Let me not repay evil for evil. Let me not forget that Thy reward is not only for what is seen, but for what is surrendered to Thee. Teach me to labour with diligence, to give with gladness, to forgive quickly, and to walk softly before Thee.
I yield myself anew into Thy care, O LORD God of Israel. I come to trust under Thy wings. Let Thy recompense and Thy full reward be according to Thy perfect will, in Thy appointed season, and unto Thy great glory. In all things, make my life a testimony that Thou art faithful.
Amen.
