A Prayer for Growth and Gratitude in God's Work
"1 Corinthians 3:6-7: 6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. 7 So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase." - 1 Corinthians 3:6-7

Heavenly Father,
We come before You in humble reverence, acknowledging Your infinite wisdom and power. We thank You for the truth found in Your Word, especially in 1 Corinthians 3:6-7, where Paul reminds us of the divine orchestration in the work of the Kingdom: "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase."
Lord, we recognize that You are the source of all growth and abundance. In our times of planting and watering in our lives, whether that be in our calling, our relationships, or our faith, let us not forget that it is ultimately You who brings about the increase. Teach us, O God, to be diligent in our tasks while remaining in complete trust of Your sovereign will and perfect timing.
When we plant seeds—be they of love, service, knowledge, or faith—let us do so with pure intentions. Make our hearts true till the soil with kindness and compassion. Help us to remember that each act of kindness, each word of encouragement, and each moment spent in prayer is a seed we plant in the lives of those around us. May we be faithful in our actions, fully knowing that You will nurture and grow those seeds in ways that we cannot see or fathom.
Awaken in our spirits the awareness that not all growth is immediately visible. Just as the seed in the darkness of the soil is nourished unseen, let us trust that our efforts, however small or unnoticed, are significant in Your eyes. In moments when our work feels futile, grant us the patience to wait on Your timing and the strength to press on with faith.
When others nurture and water the seeds we have planted, give us the grace to recognize their efforts and encourage them in their work. Let us celebrate the diversity of the body of Christ, for some are called to plant while others water. Every role is vital in Your divine plan. Help us to build one another up and to rejoice in each other’s callings without envy or rivalry. Remind us that when we come together as Your body, we become indispensable tools for Your glory.
Father, as we witness the increase You provide, teach us to cultivate hearts of gratitude. May our praise rise to You in recognition of every growth that emerges in our lives and in the lives of those we serve. As we see results, let our spirits not swell with pride, but rather let us humbly understand that it is You who have orchestrated every milestone and every triumph. Each testimony of growth is a testament to Your grace and mercy.
Grant us wisdom to steward the increase You provide. Help us use our gifts and blessings to further Your Kingdom on Earth, knowing that our labor is not in vain and that all growth ultimately belongs to You. Share with us the joy of partnership in Your mission and fortify our resolve to serve others in love.
Finally, Father, keep our eyes fixed upon You in all things. Let us never forget that the heart behind our labor matters more than the labor itself. May our ambition to see growth in ourselves and in others always be rooted and grounded in love, knowing that true increase is a transformation that brings glory to Your Holy Name.
In Jesus’ name, we pray,
Amen.
