A Prayer for Integrity and Honesty in the Spirit
"But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?" - Acts 5:3

O Gracious and Almighty Father,
In the stillness of this moment, I come before You with humility and reverence. I acknowledge the depth of Your wisdom and the unfathomable love that You have showered upon Your children. Lord, as I delve into Your Word, particularly the poignant message found in Acts 5:3, I am reminded of the seriousness of honesty and integrity in our walk with You. "But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?"
O Holy Spirit, You, who is the Spirit of Truth, I beseech You to examine my heart and mind as I come before You today. Examine the innermost parts of my soul and reveal any areas where I may have allowed deceit or insincerity to take root.
Reflecting on Ananias and Sapphira, I am struck by the devastating consequences that arise from dishonesty. Their desire to appear greater than they were led them to make choices that not only affected their own lives but also the life of the early church and the witness of Christ. Lord, I recognize that in our quest for recognition, we may sometimes manipulate the truth, whether consciously or subconsciously, seeking to gain favor in the eyes of others.
I pray that You would instill in me a spirit of sincerity—a desire to live authentically and transparently before You and those around me. Help me to remember that we are all members of one body, and that each lie told not only distances us from You but also erodes the trust and unity that bind us together as believers.
Heavenly Father, in moments when I may be tempted to compromise my integrity for fleeting gains, guide my heart back to righteousness. May the example of Peter fill me with courage and conviction to stand firmly against the temptations that seek to sway me. I desire to be filled with the truth of Your Word, to let it saturate my actions and decisions. As I pray, I ask for Your protection against the whispers of Satan, who seeks to fill my heart with doubt, deceit, and selfishness.
Lord, I lay before You any incidences of dishonesty that may linger in my past. I ask for Your covering of grace and forgiveness, knowing that You are quick to cleanse us from all unrighteousness when we come before You with a contrite heart. In my shortcomings, Lord, let not my failures define me, but let the richness of Your mercy illuminate my path back to integrity.
I desire to contribute positively to the community of faith. Help me to be a source of encouragement and support to my brothers and sisters. May my actions declare Your love and faithfulness rather than sow seeds of division born from dishonesty. As a light in this world, let my heart be the beacon that leads others toward transparency and truth in You, brightening the darkness of deceit that often entraps many.
Lastly, Lord, I implore that within Your church, accountability would flourish and truth would reign supreme. We are called to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world; therefore, help every believer to heed the warnings of the early church, allowing us to cultivate a community steeped in honesty and willing to uphold one another in love.
Thank You for hearing my prayer. Thank You for Your constant guidance and unwavering presence. May Your Spirit dwell in me, fortifying my spirit against the trials of deceit and leading me along paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray,
Amen.
