A Prayer for Growth and Unity in the Body of Christ
"And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith." - Acts 6:1-7

Heavenly Father,
In the quiet of this moment, we come before You with hearts filled with admiration for Your unwavering Word. We are reminded of the powerful account in Acts 6:1-7, where it is proclaimed, “And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.” Lord, as we ponder the significance of this scripture, we ask that You instill within us a similar hunger for Your Word; may it take root in our hearts as it did among the disciples in Jerusalem, flourishing and multiplying with vigor and fervor.
Oh, Divine Architect of our faith, we pray for the increase of Your Word in our lives and in our communities. Let it be a lamp to our feet, illuminating our paths with Your wisdom. May we prioritize the meditation on Your Word, find solace in its promises, and be encouraged through its teachings. We ask that You would stir within us a deep desire to share the truths of Your Scriptures, opening our mouths to declare the gospel with boldness and joy. As Your Word increased in Jerusalem, let us be vessels of your truth, eager and equipped to share it with those around us.
Lord, we also ask for the multiplication of disciples within our church body and beyond. May our worship services, gatherings, and outreach endeavors bear fruit for Your Kingdom. We pray for a divine intervention within our communities, that people would have a longing to know You, to seek salvation, and to engage in discipleship. Awakening a spiritual fervor among us, may we joyfully invite others to experience the transformative power of Your love, moving them to commit their lives to follow You.
We understand that for Your Word to increase, we must be united as one body in Christ. With this understanding, we pray against any divisions that seek to creep into our midst. Father, we acknowledge that the early church faced challenges, including the murmuring of the Greek-speaking Jews against the Hebrews. Yet, wise was the heart of Your disciples, who, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed the issue promptly and compassionately. Help us, O Lord, to embody such wisdom and grace! When conflicts arise among us, may we circle back to You, seeking Your guidance in resolution. Let our hearts be knit together in love and peace, and may our differences serve only to enrich our faith community, building us up instead of tearing us down.
Dear Lord, we pray for every individual within the congregation, asking that You equip each person with their unique gifts and callings. May every member find their place in the body, serving joyfully and faithfully. As the number of disciples multiplied in Jerusalem, we ask that a great company of Your people arise, obedient to Your Word and ready to work for the advancement of Your Kingdom. May we cultivate an environment that nurtures leaders, strengthen one another in faith, and encourage new believers to grow and thrive.
Lastly, we earnestly seek the salvation of those who are far from You. We pray for the hearts of the priests in our communities, just as many were obedient to the faith in Jerusalem. Touch the hearts of those who currently stand against the truth of Jesus Christ. Let them see Your light shining brightly in us and be drawn to the beauty of Your grace and mercy.
As we close this prayer, let our spirits be ignited with passion and our hearts filled with reliance on You. For our growth and multiplication are only possible through Your enabling power. Lord, strengthen us to be Your hands and feet on this earth. We submit ourselves wholly to Your will, trusting that through us, Your Word shall indeed increase, and many would come to know the glorious truth of Your Gospel.
In the powerful name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

Acts 6:1-7 - "Acts 6:1-7 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word." This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith."
